General, after years of preparation, the day has finally arrived. Operation Overlord is underway. Thousands of Allied ships, aircraft, and landing craft now cross the English Channel as American, British, and Canadian forces begin the largest amphibious invasion in military history. Our objective is to establish a secure foothold in Normandy, opening the long-awaited Western Front against Nazi Germany.
The enemy has spent years fortifying the Atlantic Wall under Field Marshal Erwin Rommel. Coastal defenses, artillery, minefields, and entrenched infantry stand ready to repel our assault. Airborne forces have landed behind enemy lines to seize bridges and disrupt German reinforcements, while Allied air and naval forces bombard defensive positions in support of the landings.
Success today will begin the liberation of France and Western Europe. For millions living under German occupation, the invasion marks the beginning of the end of Nazi rule. Yet victory will demand tremendous sacrifice before Europe is finally free.
Push inland, General. Secure the beaches, destroy German naval and air forces threatening the invasion fleet, and establish a beachhead strong enough to support the liberation of the continent.
Mission Objectives:
- Destroy the German air force, submarine fleet, and surface fleet.
- Secure the Normandy beachheads.
- Defeat all German forces within 7 days.
