I've axed sub-boards of sports board, as each individual board makes the board look inactive. Also, i'm personally giving the sports board a few days to gain traffic, if it doesn't... you can expect a axe from me.

I have removed the Password Recovery forum, as it has been spammed by bots anyway and no longer serves its purpose.

Well, I was starting to lose faith in AWRev with the insane decline in posts of late.

Since I started in October, we hit an astounding 243 posts on my first few days. That was the day my power went out and all hell broke loose in Buffalo. Over the next few days, we declined to an average of approximately 55 posts per day. I'd assume this comes from the lack of our previously active members getting overwhelmed with school work and such.

However, a spark of faith hit when we hit over 100 posts today since the first time since October 19th!!

Keep it going, and let this motivate you all to start filling the front page, posting more discussion, etc.

With Syzygy leaving the head manager position, Alex is now officially the head manager. DeeWaiWai is also an administrator once again.

Also, be sure to stop by the Totally Flaked forum to read Black Cannon Blues, an exciting new comic by Sarumarine.

Lastly, and most importantly, Syzygy's presence at the head manager position will be missed. We wish him the very best.

Dear awRev,

This is Syz. As I'm sure you noticed, I haven't been incredibly active lately. Life has busied up, other things have piled up, and things have just dramatically changed a lot. You don’t want or need to know it all, so I’ll just say that I’m having less and less time for running a successful site. Even stopping by is sometimes becoming a problem.

I’ll cut to the point. I have no time to run this site anymore. I think you guys are great, and I thoroughly enjoyed the year that I spent here, as member, staffer, mod, admin, and manager (and Webmaster...). I’ll continue to stop by in the future when I have time, but I will no longer be leading the site in the absence of Yoyo and Term.

I’m leaving the site in control of Alex/Ryxa/Rhinofeeder. He’s done a great job in the past month, and I’m sure he’ll do a great job. Rhino, you know what to do. I know you’ve wanted this ever since we became staffers.

I’ll miss you guys, and I’ll stop by when I can. I will be staying on the staff, but don’t expect me to be very active.

Hey Advance Wars Revolution members,

Since Alex wants to show what he can do as for Advance Wars Revolution, Alex has been temporarily promoted to Hiring Manager for the following month.

Syzygy is still administrator while DYY will be a moderator for the time being. Both have done excellent jobs as administrators and this should not be taken as a sign that either is incompetent. It's quite to the contrary: DYY was the head manager that kept awRev alive in the cold winter months, and Syzygy has done the same in the spring. Forum activity generally stays stable or increases when they are in control. They have logged hundreds, even thousands of forum actions.

Rather, I have simply challenged Alex to make Advance Wars Revolution more active than we've ever been. He will also be a provisional administrator. If he does an excellent job in both, he will be there to stay. If not, things will return to what they were before the change.

Congradulations to Mr. E for becoming an Advanced Member! Woo!

He's been here for a long time, contributed lots of stuff, some of which I haven't put up yet. He's got a great attitude, and I know he'll make a great AM has he's always been a great member.

FoamyFanMail has just replaced Mooglegunner as Moderator here at awRev! Moogle expressed his unableness to be active, and Foamy has been an active member and staffer here for eons. Moogle will still be staying on the staff, but will no longer have his modding position.

Anyway, I've been working on a new skin, based off the frontpage. Term has added his 'two cents,' and it's turned out rather nice. There's still a few more things to change, but it looks nice. If you find any mistakes, please tell us, we'll fix it ASAP.

I like the rotating adbar, personally. It'll randomly display one of [3] banners, and we can put whatever we want there. Perhaps, prizes... Anything. I really like the idea.

Anyway, the skin is titled Synergy, as I found that it fit quite nicely, designed mainly by me, and based off the basic IPB skin. Enjoy.

Hey Advance Wars Revolution,

Syzygy is once again the head manager of AW Revolution, as he was from April to July of this year. This means all hiring and final decisions will be under his discretion.

I suppose I might step in every now and then, but Syzygy for the most part will be in control once again.

I'm sure Syzygy will do a wonderful job as he has done in the past. I'm finally about to start college and it's going to take up much of my time, and I feel that Syzygy would be more active in this stretch of time all the way up till Christmas break.

Unlike previous major announcements, there will be no major changes relating to admins or mods. Unless you count GaMbLiNpErSiMmOn, who will be making us a brand new forum skin.

I will still be hosting the awRev World Cup, so don't you worry about that. That doesn't take much time.

With the new wiki site, I figured I better lay down some rules. (just a few)

All current Advance Wars Revolution rules apply to articles.

Under no circumstances are you to edit anyone else's article without proof of written permission.

That's about it. This is more of a reminder than a rule set.

On September 11th, 2001, the world changed. Four American commercial planes were hijacked by terrorists and sent into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylavania. Thousands died and millions of others were directly or indirectly affected.

In this melancholy mood, a little known Game Boy Advance game known as Advance Wars made its way to American shores that day. It was very nearly pulled off the shelves. In Japan, where Advance Wars was going to be released the following day, the game was cancelled apparently for good. Advance Wars would not arrive in Japan until late 2004. Europe also nearly cancelled the game for the same reasons.

It's probably not a good idea to release a war game following such a horrific day. Thankfully, Intelligent Systems decided it was too difficult to pull them back since it was already in shores. And because of it, we've had the Advance Wars series for five years.

It is unfortunate that it had to happen on such a terrible day, but we should be grateful that we have this game for us to enjoy.

I've updated the AW:DS survival mode guide with Dragor's guide for Mission 6. Also, I'm here to set new goals for AWR, since we seem to have overkilled two of the three goals we had in place.

Well guys, we've finally hit the 500 member mark. According to Yoyo's goals (July 13), that puts us just a little behind. We have 119429 current visits to the site, putting us FAR ahead of a goal that was not set until early 07.

So the site is doing wonderfully, but the forum is slightly lagging behind. Either way, great job to the staff and all the members and contributers.

The_Roses_Thorn has resigned from the staff on his one volition. He will no longer be modding at awRev (or at least not for a while).

In his place, Rhinofeeder has been promoted to the position of head forum Moderator. His duty will be to keep you guys in line, because quite frankly, neither DYY or I have the time to do it.

What is awRev?

awRev, short for Advance Wars Revolution, is an Advance Wars Fansite and Forum founded in late 2005. The site, www.awRev.com, has one of the largest, if not the largest amount of Advance Wars content on the net, in the form of guides, walkthroughs, and tables.

Who are the leaders at this site?

The domain, site, and forum are owned by YoyoYoshi and Term1al. The current Webmaster is Syzygy. DYY is a Forum Admin.

How can I contact them?

Who the heck is DYY?

Advanced Members are set apart from thier peers because of outstanding contributions and attitude. They are given increased PM Inbox space, a special tag, a special group, exemption from Flood Control, and the distinction of being exceptional.

How do I become a Staff Member?

Hirings are few and far between, but it never hurts to send in an Application. Also, please do not beg to become a staff member.

What is Game of the Month?

Game of the Month is a monthly reviews on various video games. Anyone can write one, simply E-mail it to awRevolution@gmail.com, and it will be put up at the next available position.

What should I do if I have other questions?

If it is a question that you feel could be awnsered by the general community, post it in Flak's Bedroom. If you have a question that only the staff should know about, PM it to Syzygy, and he will either respond or bring it up with the rest of the staff.

The Staff has decided that Revolution Wars is simply... not working. At the current rate, if we could get the inactive people to participate, it would take many months, if not years, to complete a theater. Nothing has been deleted, but the system is going to be rethought to make it faster, more fun, and less complicated.

The Armies section has been disabled for now. It will, however, be used in the future.

Graymalkin's complete Medals guide is formatted and uploaded. It states how to aquire each of the 300 medals, as well as the quote that comes with getting them. It's very complete and useful if you're working toward getting all 300 Medals.

Browsing the internet from wireless sources, such as PDAs and Cell Phones is becoming more and more common. Our duty as a fourm is to supply for those things. So, the PDA Skin has been added. It is designed for minimal Bandwith usage and Small-Resolution screens. It uses only slightly more BW than the low-fi version, but can access all the features, such as posting.

I do, however, suggest that if you are using it, turn off Sigs and Avatars in My Controls > Board Settings. When in the skin, click the link "full" at the bottom left of the page to return to the default skin.

Our friends at Graphix Fantasy wanted to hold an affiliate chat where partner sites could discuss how each board or site is doing and see if they can give each other advice.

Personally, I am all for the idea.

So... Bosco and I have set up an irc channel for the affiliates. With an irc channel, the diplomats from each site can idle the channel, and other people of the same timezones could meet at a good time. Other people could come to contribute at any time they wish in the channel.

In doing this, each site will flourish, having more members to spread to their affiliates as well. None of our affiliates are really big competitors either, so this seems to be all positive for us.

Once we spread the word to our partners and get this going active, you can expect our numbers to go up.

Yukkie-San's AWDS Unit Info has finally been added. Opus has added some tips to the Combat section. xanga985 has contributed more to the Medals section, and it now contains 96 different medals. That's far from all, however, so if anyone has all of them, please type them up and send them over to me!

The forum "Gaming Guide Central" has been created at the suggestion of Ace Hunter.

awRev has added another site to it's affiliate list. Advance Wars Sprite Universe. So yeah, I suggest everyone at least visits. Every little bit of affiliation counts!

With the release of my new Snippet, Snippets are officially released.

Snippets are among my most favorite ideas that we have begun to implement, and you can expect that there will be many other, more impressive, things coming forward as we move back towards our goal to be the penultimate AW site on the net!

Of course to accomplish that we need you, the members, the focus of this site, to help out too. Sign up for a Snippet, or agree to make a game of the Month article, and then you can get your shiny Advance Member stuff.

Further works today are the moving of the AW Forums to above the Community junk, to symbolize our new devotion to AW!

Finally, We have a new Base-Based Forum image. All your base are belong to us, baby.

Snippets

Snippets are medium length guides written and posted every Saturday about different topics in Advance Wars. They are interesting and informative, and are designed to spark discussion about topics and to be used for reference.

Anything in Advance Wars is fair game. You could discuss the power of a CO, argue the effectiveness of a Tag combination, talk about the uses of a unit, outline the power in a Force Rank, or analyze a map.

Anyone can contribute a Snippets article. If it is approved, you will be registered for the next available week, then PM your full article to either The_Roses_Thorn or Syzygy.

Game of the Month

Game of the Months are monthly reviews on video games. They can be done on old games, recently released games, or any other game you feel inclined to write about.

Anyone can contribute a Game of the Month article by posting the idea first, then sending the completed article in once approved.

Command Log

The Command Log gets you inside of the head of a Commanding Officer during a battle. Two people play a battle on AWBW, track their thoughts day by day, and the finished battle is turned into an article with pictures.

At the moment, Command Logs are only open to the staff. Stay tuned! The_Roses_Thorn and I are currently working on a Command Log of our own.

A new attribute has been added. The group "Advanced Member" will be given out to those who the staff deems worthy.

How to become an Advanced Member: contribute. Write a guide and submit it to the site. Make a useful topic. Also, do anything else that the staff concider good for the community.

What you get when you Advance: a cool green name, exemption from flood control, a larger PM inbox, and the ability to edit your own topic titles.

Also, Advance Wars pips have been added.

After talking it over with Syzygy, I have decided to make Syzygy a co-webmaster and administrator of Advance Wars Revolution. He has shown great dedication to awRev and I believe he is a great selection for the position.

I will still be around awRev and still do updates every now and then, even if I'm busy. Nethertheless, I've had less time to run the site lately.

The staff got together recently, and we knew things had to change, so we decided upon a few things.

So, things will be undergoing some changes.

1. New staff will be hired. Congratulations to all of those who were sent the PM.

2. We’ve decided that Advance Wars is a thing of the past. The focus of this site will, as of later this week, be completely and solely about RTS’, such as Age of Empires and StarCraft.

3. RTSRev (name pending) is going to be a pay-for-use site, with a small fee.

4. Control of the site is to be given entirely to nol888.

5. Flak’s bedroom is officially being renamed “Nell’s bedroom” for a time.

6. Spam is officially disallowed. Anyone found doing so will be instantly warned.

7. The army system is coming back.

8. I, Syzygy, am officially changing my post color to orange.

9. The new skin is up “RTSRev Default.” Check it out!

'Kay folks, We at the Staff want to know something quite important, if you could make any "fan-" item for Advance Wars, what would it be?

AWRev Finally has a custom skin! And a very nice one at that. As I’m sure you all saw, “listed” is a great, professional-looking, light blue skin.

What is custom: “New Post” macros were changed from teal to red. Forum view was fixed. Custom logo added. Text size was enlarged.

What more needs to be done: You can't make post colors. Untill then, you are stuck with typing [color=*red]. I will try to figure it out. Perhaps more.

Also, the Army System forum has been removed until the army system returns. Flak’s Crib forum was added. New Members, introduce yourselves there!

Lotsa things to report.

First of all, Firefox, due to extenuating circumstances, will no longer be moderating here, for now. The_Roses_Thorn has, out of necessity, given up his spot as Administrator. He is now a mod and will try to do a great job just as he always has.

Syzygy and Rhinofeeder have been made Forum Moderators of General Discussion, Gaming Discussion, and the Special Events board.

On a side note, Admin Term1al has removed the personal information from the forum user sidebar. It is still viewable in the user profiles. This will clean up the topics a lot. We hope you like it.

Finally, AWRev is holding a large-scale AWBW tournament. It’s bound to be fun so find a partner and sign up in Special Events.

Upon discussion amongst the staff, we've decided that AoE:DS is a very similar game to AW. We are also aware that a few of our members play AoE:DS, so we've decided to make a forum for it.

Let me know what you guys think.

EDIT: Actually, we just decided to make a full category for it.

Some of you may have seen DYY's topic on pulling Advance Wars Revolution out of the Advance Wars series altogether. I'd like to clarify on that by first saying that's not quite accurate.

Are we considering expanding to include other games? Yes, we sure are. But as far as you go with this idea, it runs into three key problems:

1. Advance Wars Revolution has always been an Advance Wars site!

2. We cannot cover every single game like IGN.

3. Even if we do what IGN does, we cannot cover games as extensively as we would as a fansite.

So what do I see as a solution? Expand coverage on Advance Wars over the next several months, then possibly adding a few similar games if conditions permit.

Advance Wars will have to come first, though.

I'd like to close off by talking about three areas I'd like everyone to think about working on in the weeks ahead. These areas are mode/CO strategy guides, competition, and site advertising.

I've done another update, formatting the Advance Wars campaign sections so that now the guides look like the rest of the site format-wise. They also have the links that Syzygy suggested in the previous topic.

Also, I've updated the AW:DS secrets section again as well.

Nearly half of Syzygy's Commanding Officers guide is now up under the Advance Wars: Dual Strike section.

Also, the Advance Wars 2 Normal Campaign guide is back up, though without the campaign maps yet.

Yep, that's right. I've updated the site!

In a long overdue update, I've finally put up Sarumarine's map images for the Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2 campaigns! So if you stop by the Normal Campaign and Advance Campaign sections of Advance Wars, and the Hard Campaign section of Advance Wars 2 on Advance Wars Revolution, you'll find every map unfogged, with lab maps labelled for your enjoyment!

Apologies to Sarumarine for taking four months to put up all those images.

I've also updated the Battle Maps section for Advance Wars: Dual Strike.

Also, you may have noticed that the Advance Wars 2 Normal Campaign section's been down for a while. I don't know why, but I'll see what I can do about it.

Merry Christmas AWRev, its our first Christmas, so lets break out the egg nog, spike the egg nog, and hope the police don't come, and have some fun.

There's not much else to say, so just, Merry Christmas, and Hannukah, and Winter Solstice, and Whatever else you want to celebrate.

Everything's fixed now i think, if you find any bugs or glitches, I can't fix them cuz I need ACP access for those probally....anyways, everything SHOULD work now.

Army System is down indefenitally.

As the topic title says, Age 2 has now started. Good luck and have fun everyone.

Minor glitches means we will reset it again later.

Soon we will be upgrading to the newest version of the army system.

Hey everyone,

Since I haven't been on as much lately, I've decided to hand over control of how the site and forum is run to Sith Lord DYY. He changes his name way too much...but hey, he's great with this stuff and if you want to be hired or send content to AW Revolution, you can send it to him!

I've demoted GaMbLiNpErSiMmOn from an admin position, since he was supposed to make new skins, but hasn't. In his place is The Roses Thorn, who I found a great mod, and will definitely do a great job with the admining.

MoogleGunner will now take the 2nd moderator position. Don't think I need to say much about his qualifications.
