General, France has fallen, leaving Britain to stand alone against Nazi Germany. Unable to cross the English Channel without first gaining air superiority, the Luftwaffe has begun a massive campaign to destroy the Royal Air Force, cripple our industry, and break the resolve of the British people. If they succeed, Germany may launch an invasion of our homeland.
Our navy controls the seas, but our survival now depends upon the courage of RAF Fighter Command. Though outnumbered, our Spitfires and Hurricanes, combined with Britain's integrated radar network and determined pilots, give us the opportunity to repel the Luftwaffe and deny Germany control of the skies.
The Battle of Britain became the first major military campaign fought entirely in the air and marked a decisive turning point in World War II. Britain's successful defense ended Hitler's immediate plans to invade the British Isles and ensured that the United Kingdom would remain the principal Allied base in Western Europe.
Hold the line, General. The fate of Britain—and perhaps Europe itself—rests upon your success.
Mission Objectives:
- Prevent the German invasion of Great Britain.
- Destroy the Luftwaffe's remaining aircraft over Britain and northern France.
- Defeat the initial German air offensive within 4 days.
- Eliminate all German air units, including reinforcements, within 7 days.
