Version History

v.1.0 - 4/29/06: Wrote guide, PM’ed to Syz, put it up.

Intro

Ah, the Oozium, such a graceful and majestic creature. Its sublime beauty can be witnessed no better than while it is consuming entire metropolitan landscapes whole.

Created by the Bolt Guard, Oozium are first introduced in AW:DS Mission 19: Into the Woods.

Using Oozium

Oozium are closer to Black Hole tech than true units. They cannot be manufactured, and the ability to predeploy them is only available late in the game.

Able to move equally fast on any land form, Oozium crawl at a pace of 1 square per turn. They instantly destroy any enemy unit they move onto.

Use woods effectively in Fog of War. If Fog of War is not applicable, Oozium must be handled much more carefully.

Oozium are strong chokepoint holders and can destroy aerial units as well.

Fighting Oozium

The AI will move Oozium before all other units and target the most expensive unit it can eat.

Always have four units attack an Oozium, because the goal is to knock it out in one turn.

The safest and most cost-efficient way to kill Oozium is with infantry. Each infantry should inflict 1–2 damage.

Ranged unit ammo is usually better spent elsewhere, since artillery and rockets deal limited damage.

Best Oozium COs

Javier plus Oozium can be extremely difficult to damage, especially with defense boosts from com towers.

Koal and Jake are strong against Oozium when fighting on their preferred terrain.

Grimm is also useful because his boosted attack helps, while his weak defense matters less against instant-death attacks.

Wrap-up

Though it moves at a snail’s pace, Oozium can pack quite a punch when used with the right COs and conditions.
