What Is MK64 Switch?

MK64 Switch is an organized Mario Kart 64 Nintendo Switch Online competitive community founded in 2022.

MK64 Switch focuses on live Grand Prix (GP) and VS competition played through Nintendo Switch Online. It is not just casual online play and not the same thing as the traditional Mario Kart 64 Time Trial scene.

The community organizes competitive matches, tracks Elo ratings, records match history, maintains player profiles, hosts broadcasts, runs championships, and documents the development of Mario Kart 64 competition on Nintendo Switch Online.

How MK64 Switch Works

GP Competition: players compete in organized Grand Prix matches.
VS Competition: players compete in live multiplayer races and events.
Elo Ratings: results are tracked through competitive rankings.

Relationship to Mario Kart 64

Mario Kart 64 has a long competitive history, especially through Time Trials, world records, and classic multiplayer. MK64 Switch focuses specifically on the modern Nintendo Switch Online branch of competitive Mario Kart 64 multiplayer.

MK64 Switch exists alongside the long-established Time Trial community centered on mariokart64.com. The communities are not mutually exclusive, and many players participate in both, but the formats reward different skills.
