Snippets What it is: Snippets are medium length guides written and posted every Saturday about different topics in Advance Wars. They are interesting and informative, and are designed to spark discussion about topics and to be used for reference. They should be approximately one page on your Word Processor, and should contain factual information. What it’s about: Anything in Advance Wars. You could discuss the power of a CO, argue the effectiveness of a Tag combination, talk about the uses of a unit, outline the power in a Force Rank, or analyze a map, to name a few. Be creative. If it is about Advance Wars, odds are it will be acceptable. What you should do: Anyone can contribute a Snippets article. In order to start one, simply post your idea on this topic. If it is approved, you will be automatically registered for the next available week. Then, you simply have to PM your full article to either The_Roses_Thorn or I, Syzygy. We will check it for reliability and grammatical correctness, and then post it the Saturday it is assigned to. Also, please follow the same format that Mooglegunner used in the first Snippet article. May 20: Banzo - Hawke May 27: June 3: Snippets will be posted in the Snippets forum, a subforum to Advance Wars: Duel Strike Discussion, and can be openly commented on. Game of the Month What it is: Game of the Months are monthly reviews on video games. They can be done on old games, recently released games, or any other game you feel inclined to write about. They are interesting and informative, and should be no less then one page on your word processor. What it’s about: They could contain anything about the game, from an all-out review to a list of differences from the prequel. You have a lot of freedom here. However, please avoid all spoilers, information that may ruin the game for those who have not yet played it. What you should do: Anyone can contribute a Game of the Month article. First, simply post your idea on this topic. If it is approved, you will be automatically registered for the next available month. Then, you simply have to PM your full article to either The_Roses_Thorn or I, Syzygy. We will check it for reliability and grammatical correctness, and then post it the day that it is assigned to. Generally, they should be sent to us by the beginning of the month, but early in the month is acceptable. June: July: August: September: Command Log What it is: The Command Log gets you inside of the head of a Commanding Officer during a battle. Basically, two people have a battle on AWBW. Every game day, they write a small comment about that day: how things are going, what they are trying to accomplish, and other thoughts that occur while taking the turn. Also, screenshots are taken daily at the beginning of every player’s turn. Then, when the battle ends, the two reports are crafted into an article, complete with pictures, allowing the reader to analyze the battle through the minds of both players. What it’s about: Here is an example log: QUOTE So far everything is going as planned. I’m getting a good amount of control of the outer section, just like I had planned. By the time he is able to burst through my middle defense, I should be able to fend him off because of my income advantage. My tank is holding up nicely, and I am glad I was able to attack that artillery. I’m a little worried about that Medium tank, but I should be able to stop it with infantry meat shield. I’m saving up for a Rockets unit this turn. What you should do: At the moment, Command Logs are only open to the staff. Stay tuned! Ahh! Teh red! MINE!
Hmmm... I highly doubt that there is enough info about Black Cannons to fill an entire snippet. Explain what you would put in it. Perhaps you could do one on all Black Hole Tech? |
